Why office moves go wrong

Most Office IT Problems Start Before Move Day

An office move is mostly a scheduling problem. Internet orders, cabling, furniture, electrical work and phone porting all depend on each other, and the IT pieces are usually the ones left until the last two weeks.

We take ownership of the whole technology side, so there is one plan, one schedule and one team to call.

The internet isn't ready

Staff arrive on Monday and the provider's install is still weeks away.

Five vendors, no one in charge

Landlord, electrician, ISP, phone company and IT all assume someone else has it.

Not enough network drops

Desks end up on extension cords and cheap switches because cabling was an afterthought.

Old computers left behind

Drives with client and staff data go to a recycler or a closet without being wiped.

Office relocation IT services

Everything Your New Office Needs, Handled by One Team

From the internet connection to the last printer, every part of the office IT setup is planned, installed and tested before move-in.

Business internet & backup line

We compare providers, place the order early and add a second connection if downtime would hurt.

Structured cabling & racks

Network drops, patch panels and a tidy rack or wall cabinet, installed and labelled by our team.

Office network setup & Wi-Fi

Managed switches, access points planned for your floor plan, and separate staff and guest Wi-Fi.

Firewall & remote access

Business firewall, VPN and security settings moved or rebuilt for the new location.

Servers & storage

Server relocation or replacement, done after hours so your data is never offline during the work day.

Microsoft 365 & email

Accounts, devices and shared files checked so everyone signs in without surprises on day one.

Phones & number porting

VoIP phones moved and set up by our team, and your existing numbers kept wherever possible.

Workstations & printers

Desks, docks, monitors and printers connected and tested before your team walks in.

Secure data wiping & e-waste

Old drives wiped or destroyed and retired equipment sent for responsible recycling.

Business internet in Edmonton

Order Your Office Internet Before Anything Else

Internet is the item most likely to delay a move. If the building already has service, a provider appointment may take a few weeks to book. If it needs new fibre, TELUS says installation is usually completed within six months of a pre-order. That’s why we start the internet order at the very beginning.

We confirm what each building can actually get, coordinate the provider’s install with your landlord, and set up a business firewall and backup connection so one outage doesn’t stop the office.

What we coordinate

Cabling done properly

Structured cabling Edmonton

Network Cabling Installed by Our Own Team

Cabling is the part of an office that lasts longest and is hardest to change once walls and furniture are in. Our own team plans and installs it, not a subcontractor, so the person who designs your network and Wi-Fi also knows where every cable runs.

Industry guidelines cap a permanent cable run at 90 metres and the full channel, including patch cords, at 100 metres, which affects where the rack goes in larger spaces. In Alberta, data cabling is a communication system and does not need an electrical permit; new power circuits for a server rack still go through a licensed electrician.

Phones, numbers and old equipment

Keep Your Numbers. Lose the Old Data Safely.

Two details that are easy to forget and painful to get wrong.

Phone numbers and VoIP

Canada’s CRTC says you can keep your phone number when you change providers as long as you stay within your local exchange area, and you must ask the new provider before cancelling the old service. We handle the porting request and move or set up your VoIP phones ourselves, so calls work on day one.

Secure data wiping and e-waste

Canada’s Cyber Centre warns that deleted data is still recoverable and that a factory reset does not truly erase a device. Before old computers, servers and phones leave your hands, we wipe them using the Cyber Centre’s recognized methods, destroy drives that held highly sensitive data, and send the equipment for responsible e-waste recycling.

Cameras · door access · meeting rooms

Security Cameras, Door Access and AV Through Trusted Partners

We work with partner companies for security cameras, door access control and meeting-room audio-visual. We bring them into the same plan and schedule, make sure their devices get the network drops, power and separate network they need, and keep them off your business data.

Security cameras

Cabled and powered over the network, kept on their own segment.

Door access

Readers and controllers connected and scheduled with the build.

Meeting rooms

Displays and conferencing ready for the first meeting.

One schedule

Every trade working from the same plan and dates.

Frequently asked questions

Office IT Setup & Move FAQs

Straight answers for businesses opening or moving an office.

Ideally 60 to 90 days before move-in. Internet orders and phone number porting take the longest, and if the building needs new fibre, TELUS says installation is usually completed within six months.

Usually, yes. When cabling, internet and network equipment are installed ahead of time, the actual move of servers, desks and phones can happen after hours or over a weekend.

Internet and backup line, network cabling and rack, switches and Wi-Fi, firewall and VPN, servers, Microsoft 365, phones and number porting, workstations and printers, and secure disposal of old equipment. Our timeline above shows the order.

Usually. The CRTC says you can keep your number if you stay within your local exchange area. Ask before cancelling your old service; we handle the porting request for you.

Yes. Our own team plans, installs and labels the cabling, racks and patch panels.

Many small offices only need a wall-mounted cabinet for the switch, firewall and patch panel. If you keep a server on site, we plan space, power, cooling and a UPS for it.

Data cabling is a communication system, and Alberta’s Permit Regulation does not require an electrical permit for it. New power circuits still need a licensed electrician and permit.

It depends on the layout, walls and how many devices connect at once. We plan placement from the floor plan and a site walk, not a rule of thumb.

We wipe them using the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security’s recognized methods, physically destroy drives that held highly sensitive data, and send the equipment for e-waste recycling.

Yes, through our partner companies. We coordinate their work in the same schedule and give their devices the cabling and network they need.

If the office can’t work without internet, yes. A second line or LTE backup on the firewall keeps you online during a provider outage.
